Pictures from the Uacari Lodge 5th - 12th September 2016

Hello! Following are a select few (ha!) of the 1000+ photos we took while staying at the Uacari Lodge, which floats on an off-shoot of the Solomoes River,

For some context, as these photos come out of order, we are currently in Arequipa. We have experienced much in Bolivia and already in Peru, but updates on those will come in separate posts, when we have time, inclination and good enough internet!

Photos-wise, hopefully there will not be such a long wait as there has been for these! We take a lot of pictures (over 100GB so far...) and they take a lot of going through!

The Lodge:

Our Hut:

Views down the river:

Trip to the local community:

Piranha fishing:

Into the jungle:

 A stick insect of sorts

The make-shift tri-pod when we dove into the rainforest in search of the Uacari monkey

The elusive red faced Uacari monkey

And again, moving in out-of -focus silhouette

Life growing from the dead wood and mulch floor of the forest

 Glimpses of a wild sloth

 Uacari in shadows with baby

Trip to the bird nesting island and swimming:
Back of a pink dolphin (we have much better videos)

 Iguana tracks

Large Turn eggs in the sand

 Skimmers in flight

 Ellen being dive-bombed

George in the river, fearing death

Our night in the forest stilt hut:

Much Wildlife:

  1. The photos are stunning, not sure about that big crocodile looking out on me at the end. I love the unusual shots as well as the natural beauty of this incredible land. Lots of love Auntie xxx

    1. Caimen not croc! And yes, we were a bit scared too! We were coming back after a nighttime treck and as the boat pulled up the the dock, one of the guides shone his torch to see and struck upon that massive guy sitting under the boards, right at our shoulder level as we turned right into him! The driver had to do a pretty quick and nifty manoeuvre with us all squirming and ineffectually leaning away! Xxx
